I'm sure you could build it somewhat Staxy or as a combo deck (considering you have Simic which tends to get a bit silly on its own) but honestly just having a constantly threatening commander swinging with wildly unpredictable abilities thanks to mutate is pretty damn fun. This commander has come up a few times now and it does seem spicy. Ive recently put together a [[Yeva, Natures Herald]] deck and what I have come to appreciate most about the deck is its resiliency to really never feel like its out of the game. I don't even think I'm worthy of casting her. As far as individually hard to kill generals, [[Norin, the Wary]] is tough to kill, but not for good reasons. I like [[Zahid]]. Super helpful to quickly notice if I just don't like how something feels when I play around in the playtest with it (like finding out how I enjoyed [[Kinna, Bonder Prodigy]] and [[Anhelo the Painter]], but how I also didn't really like how [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] or [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] felt). Wilson, Refined Grizzly - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) But quickly found out that without a few hundred dollars it's actually quite crap. Ive found it incredibly hard to consistently keep [[fynn]] out for too long. What decks can survive trial by fire and still pull off a win through the hate? I've been hit by multiple instant speed board wipes in a single turn and still come back out right as rain by the end of my turn, all thanks to the absurd amounts of mana you can produce if the deck is designed to do so. Card Type. Mix and match as desired. Or Toxrill. Won a lot of games due to people underestimating how you can stack triggers. Card Kingdom $1069 - 1105 . I hate it. Feldon of the Thirdpath - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) It seems non threatening, I can see how its kind of like Urza who would be more hated in a game. Do you feel Derevi has flexibility in its play patterns? Maybe I'm just looking for solid midrange commanders? White also adds the best spot removal in the form of Condemn (for those tricky generals), Path to Exile, and of course Swords to Plowshares. [[Athreos, God of Passage]] might be a good fit. Definitely one of my favorites and much more table-friendly than Dargo+[[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]], Dargo - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) I'll throw my hat in the ring. Maybe Im just looking for solid midrange commanders? Aside from that, the deck hits most of the points you're after; it can combo but doesn't have to, doesn't rely on commander, has life gain/bleed, copy, graveyard synergies, isn't anti- synergy, and it's pretty efficient. [[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call, derevi - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) That's a similar meta to when I first joined our playgroup - lots of sweepers, removal, and control. If it all falls apart then you still have big beaters to hard cast. If there were one right answer to this question it'd be Derevi. [[licia, sanguine tribune]] can be rest for WBR at any part of the game, and often decks play around saccing her for value with stuff like [[disciple of bolas]] and [[ruthless technomancer]]. The first that comes to mind for me is [[Yuriko]], but [[Derevi]] and even the eminence commanders are in the same league imo. They can cheat a commander in if needed, or gain so much value from resolving it, that its death doesnt matter soon. [[Sisay, Weatherlight Captain]] can be built so anytime someone tries to remove her, you can use her ability to find something to protect your board and herself. A recent deck I built that also feels great to pilot is [[Goro-goro and Satoru]]. This essentially means you only need to focus on ramp and even if people interact with your card advantage and board state you will still be so far ahead on mana sources it is really easy to rebuild as long as you've kept up on card advantage. When I first made my Ulamog deck, I was searching Magiccards.info for indestructible commanders Because there is something satisfying about a commander that is hard to get off/keep off the table.
